Treverna Bed & Breakfast ... HomeTreverna Bed and Breakfast is a restored heritage overlay homestead, circa 1890, offering Traditional Bed & Breakfast hospitality with your live in hosts, Trevor and Verna, catering to your needs for a satisfying and relaxing stay. Accommodating a maximum of 6 guests it is now situated in the quiet village of Wahgunyah (population of 809), on the banks of the mighty Murray River and is an ideal retreat from which you have easy access to the Rutherglen Wine Region and its myriad attractions. The vineyards and cellar doors (of which a number have prominence in Wahgunyah) cover 150 years in the art of winemaking and have laid the foundation for the reputation that Rutherglen Muscat and Tokay enjoy as being of unsurpassed richness and unique among the great fortified wines of the world. Take the time to explore the historic towns that preserve the charm of a bygone era reflected in the 19th century architecture, shady verandahs and grand old pubs and find yourself surrounded by a more tranquil pace of life. Sit on the banks of the Murray and reflect on the history that the river has borne witness to - an era of paddle steamers, bullock wagons, gold rushes and the birth of Federation at Corowa across the river from Wahgunyah. There does exist the potential for a more physically active stay for those inclined with the Murray and Lake Moodemere offering boating, skiing, canoeing, fishing (Murray Cod and Crays), rowing (over 140 years of Regatta history) and beaches. Walks along the river, lakes, forests and parks abound throughout the region, cycling may also be enjoyed (with the Wahgunyah and Rutherglen sections soon to be added to the Murray to the Mountains Trail), sky diving and gliding can also be challenged at Corowa. After a day of activity or inactivity, as the mood takes, relax back at Treverna Bed and Breakfast on a verandah or in the garden with a glass of the local ambrosia, be it Rutherglen Wine or a brew from one of the region's micro breweries. Then cap off the day with an indulgence created for you, from the region's finest gourmet produce, at one of the region's outstanding restaurants or hotels. |
